The outermost layer of the hair - the cuticle is destroyed and a hair strand splits into 2 or 3 strands.Hair should be trimmed regularly, at least once in six weeks. Longer hair is more likely to develop split ends. After shampooing and conditioning the hair, apply a drop of olive oil on the hair and comb the hair so that it spreads evenly.More details at the link below.

Joico K-Pak shampoo & conditioner are the best for damaged hair.

You can use a drop of jojoba oil as a leave-in conditioner. Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic and washes out well so you won't have
build up. (I like Desert Essence Jojoba Oil and get it from Trader Joe's. You probably can get it from Whole Foods or other health food stores.)

Avoid heated styling tools.

To speed air drying use a super absorbent hair towel (e.g. Aquis, The Body Shop).

Comb out freshly washed hair with a wide tooth comb. Smooth out knots/tangles by starting at the bottom. Do not pull or drag the comb through your hair.

Do not use a brush until your hair is completely dry.

Use smooth hair elastics. (Goody, Blax)

Trim off split ends so they don't continue to split upwards.

redkin products!! get them they work. Something called All Soft, conditioner and shampoo and theres a weekly treatment. this will help smooth and tame damaged hair and theres a other treatments that will really help strengthen your hair also. Use something called dumb blond also this will really help strengthen your hair if you have really bad chemical and heat damage. They are all kind of pricey but they are so well worth it without really breaking your wallet with other stuff that is really really pricey but does nothing for your hair. just make sure you start using a really good deep conditioner and treatment daily or every other day and it should really make a big difference but once damage is done it can never be completely fixed unless you let it grow out and stop processing it with chemicals and heat. use chi iron guard or redkin spray starch if you are straigtening your hair alot and that should really help alot also. Hope you find what works for you darlin ( :

Use virgin olive oil in the amount you put hair conditioner on. Dampen a towel with water put it in a pan put in the oven and heat towel to a warm state then wrap it around your head for about 15 minutes. Repeat this daily for about a week and you'll begin to notice a difference.
