What is the statue of limitations on rape. I know someone of very close relation who this happened to and he’s now 12 years old. And this happened I know for sure in 2005 the thing is the person that did this is his father. And his mother is blackmailing the father with threats of telling what she knows in order to gain financially.
She didn’t report it when it started. And now the father is back in the child’s life and I’m afraid it will start again. Also, the child hasn’t sought any counseling for this. And its really affecting him mentally.
What could be done about this
The only reason the abuse stopped is because of the fact that hurricane Katrina separated them.
They are now back together in Houston, Texas.

This happened in New Orleans. They now live in Texas. Which state do I report it too? Also, I don't know if its going on now. Do I still report it because it happened in the past?

In Texas the statute of limitations is seven years. I believe that his mother needs turned in too, because she is allowing this child to suffer because she won't have his father prosecuted. He needs immediate councelling. It is very hard to dal wiht sexual abuse alone as a child. It is something you don't like to discuss with family and friends. Get these people prosecuted and this child some help.

I believe it is 7 years. You can contact children services anonymously and talk to someone, you don't even have to give names until you have discussed what will happen to every one involved. This child should not be with either parent. His mother obviously doesn't care or she would be turning the father in and keeping her son away, not trying to get money out of him. She is basically making a prostitute out of her son. He needs removed and put into a home and get counseling. I know foster homes aren't always the loving homes they should be, but can it really be any worse then where he is at now? At least in the home he would have a case worker that is supposed to look out for him. I'm so sorry to hear of situations like these. This is what I would do about it though.

you can type in statue of limitations for sexual abuse on child (and the state name) it should bring it up for you.

Good Luck

YES, STILL REPORT IT! THIS MAN NEEDS TO PAY FOR WHAT HE DID AND THE VICTIM ALSO NEEDS TO GO TO A COUNSLER. I WOULD CALL THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES FIRST, THIS WILL AT LEAST GET THINGS GOING AND GIVE YOU THE DIRECTION YOU NEED. FOR THE SAKE OF THIS VICTIM AND POSSIBLE FUTURE VICTIMS THIS SEX OFFENDER NEEDS TO BE GOTTEN OFF THE STREETS.
AGAIN, GOOD LUCK.

You really need to go to the nearest local police&tell them everything that you know. What those to so call people are doing do your relative is abuse. Not only should the father be lockup for life, but the so call mother should be too for trying to get money for something that happen to her child. All it shows is that she has never loved him&only see him as a cash cow to use. PLEASE TAKE AWAY THE POWER THAT SHE HAS BEFORE HE GETS EVEN MORE HURT THAN HE HAS ALREADY.As soon as the mother was told what had happen she should have went to the cops for help for her child. PLEASE HELP PROTECT HIM FROM VERY UNFIT PARENTS.

Report it as see that they are separated and that the child gets the help he needs. Call the police and /or social services at once.

This crime needs to be reported to the Police and the child taken to a place of safety. How sad his Mother has let him down as well.

It differs from state to state but I think it is normally like 5 years. You as an adult need to step in to help this poor child before it happens again. If the Mother wont do anything about this please do it for them
