Do all black women with "long" hair have weaves? I heard that was like some top secret black woman deal.

Aside from the fact that this is a dumb question because white woman use weaves as well. Beyonce' uses weave of course...that's just one black woman. Most of the females in my family have long hair until we cut it and no I'm not mixed with Indian or any type of Caucasian. Any race of woman can grow long hair, but African American's hair in general is more fragile than any other race.

Lots of black women have long hair without weave, my grandma has hair to her waist... but she's half Native American... I have hair that is almost to the middle of my back, and I don't wear a weave. Some black women have ruined their scalps to the point where it won't grow long, it breaks off a certain length because of over drying products that cause hair to become brittle. Some black women go too long between shampoos, I have no idea why, but some go months without a wash, I could never do that 4 days is pushing it with me. And weaves actually can break off hair, so I do not understand why they'd choose the appearance of having long hair over growing out their own.
Beyonce actually does have long hair, and so did Aaliyah (the chick from Queen of the Damned, that was her hair). But the ones in the ghetto don't have stylists to tell them how to treat their hair. The bald ones live by hair grease.

no no no no no...now I can't say that i don't but I use to have really long hair. My sister has never had her hair relaxed(straightened) and she still has her baby hair but she's almost thirteen. Her hair goes down to her butt and it's all natural. I had my hair straightened and that messed up my long hair. Some women do have hair weaves but if you pay attention closely it's not only black women. I know a lot of other race women who wear the long ponytails to make their hair look longer or they have extensions. It's not top secret, but I wouldn't recommend pulling on their hair.

dude, i have long hair and let me tell ya, it's all natural! i straighten it and everything. i agree- it dont look like Britney's but it still looks great. not all black women with long hair have weaves! u can totally tell if it's a weave coz it looks like white or asian hair and we all know we ( black ppl) arent capable of getting that kinda hair. which is good coz with our type of hair, we can hold cornrows with the kinda hair we have. remember some black women have weaves but NOT all.

My naiive darling, the reason sistahs wear weaves is because their natural hair is delicate and fragil and if they wore it just like that, it would get damaged. Plus, weaves look nice.
