I had an operation just over a week ago now and was wondering how long the remnants of anaesthetic stay in the body for. Immediately after the operation I had some of the most bizarre and crazy nightmares every time i shut my eyes. I'm still having rather more vivid dreams than usual and was wondering do I still ahve some of the drug in my system.

This is a common side effect of general anesthesia, for the most part the medication is out of your system in about 24 hours. It could also be a side effect of other medications you are on. I would contact your doctor and/or anesthesiologist to see if they have any suggestions that may help.

Depends on the type they gave you and what route they gave it to you and how much of it. I would say though at least 2-4 hours for the effects of it to be managable.

it depends on how much they give you , but i should think its out of your system now
