No, this is not ethical. What you will find is that those in poverty will be taken advantage of - the rich will benefit, the poor will not. That is not right. One way of addressing the shortage of donors would be to make people opt out of donating their organs so, unless you have stated otherwise, your organs will definitely be used. Many countries already have this.

If my heart can save a life and put my daughter through college, well hell if I dont need it no more then I'd be happy for my family to get a hundred grand for it, however that kinda leaves the poor people that wouldnt be able to buy one for themselves left out, which I would totally disagree with because if I had the choice of giving it to some rich a.s.s. hole who in his day probably took advantage of the poor people, or some poor GOD loving soul whom would give you the shirt off their back if they had one then I guess my daughter better study hard and get a scholarship..
As far as opting out of being an organ donor I dont believe thats right either its a choice we all make when we get our drivers license when they ask you if you want to be an organ donor. You either do or you dont, Now I know I wouldnt want my organs to be taken without my consent. So I guess all in all this is a tough situation, if it was a governmental issue where the poor had just as good a chance at getting a purchased organ then I think that would be great, not only would you save a life but you could provide a little money for your loved ones that you leave behind.

Yes I think people should be paid since this will encourage more people to donate their blood/organs. Men get paid for donating their sperm, so it only seems fair.
