I always use a little sugar..it seems to help..you can also use a potato to take up some of the salt and just discard it before you serve your dish..of course this means you need to have liquid in the dish you are cooking...like soups etc.

Simmer a raw peeled pootaot or two in it, cut into quarters.

Remove before it cooks thoroughly and turns to mush, though!
