Jesus did not start and preach another religion. His followers did that after he was crucified. And it was the Romans who crucified Jesus; it was the standard mode of execution for the Romans.

Jesus was a Jew.
Jesus did not come to preach and start a new religion. Instead it was meant to be an extension of the old. He claimed the title of Messiah - and claimed to be fulfilling the role of the long awaited redeemer of the Jewish people.
The Jewish people (and God-fearers) do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. He did not fill the criteria. Because of this, a sect of Jewish people seperated - these are the ones that followed Jesus as the Messiah.
Over time, these followers began to gain their own customs and practices - and also didn't continue to follow the law. They believe that Jesus made it obselete - that he was the way to salvation not the law.
I don't believe the Jews actually did kill Jesus - but instead the Roman government. Jesus said he was the king - a threat to the Roman ruler - an act that was punishable by death. The same style of death that Jesus he suffered.
The Jews are made to look like they killed Jesus for a variety of reasons. Mostly because he threatened their way of life. Or so we are told.

Dear Luke,
Jesus Christ is God in human flesh.
Emmanuel means God-With-Us.
Jesus was of Jewish descent.
He did not "start or preach another religion."
He is the Way, the Truth and the Light.
Jesus fulfilled more than 300 prophecies from Hebrew scripture and is the only person who ever had his whole biography written before he was ever born. Just think about that!
Religion is man-made and there are nearly as many religions as there are men. Jesus shows us the way to be in a right relationship with the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe. He does this because God does not want a single person to be separated from Him eternally.
Several years ago I finally realized that if I were the only sinner on the face of the earth, Jesus still would have died on the cross for me. So it is absolutely pointless to point fingers at the Jews for killing Him.
Did He die for you? I sure hope so!

Jesus was a JEW. He never intended to start a new religion and he didn't preach anything other than his own interpretation of the Jewish scriptures, as most Rabbis did. The Jews did not kill him. The Romans executed him because he was a threat. The Jewish concept of the "Messiah" was of a warrior king who would deliver them from oppression. In allowing himself to be called the messiah, he challenged Roman authority. The Jewish leaders may not have liked Jesus, as most potentates would dislike a figure who had a large following. Jesus portrayed the Pharisees and Saducees as corrupt hypocrites. He advocated praying in private, not in a big public show.
Christianity did not exist until many years after his death. It began as a sect of Judaism and split around the time of the Jewish revolt and the establishment of the church of Antioch (c. 50-70CE). The Christian bible was created by the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE on the orders of Emperor Constantine.
There is more to Christianity than what is in the Bible.

Jesus came from the Jewish nation and He practised all the Jewish customs and traditions. He went to the temple and celebrated all the Jewish feasts. However, many of the folks living in that time were not Jews, they were Gentiles. It is these people who Christ reached out to with the gospel. So the Gentiles became Christians, or Christ followers. It was not just the Jews that took part in the death of Christ, so did the Romans. The point is it was the plan of God to send His son to die for us and Christ willing did this for us, for all people.

honestly, this question is over asked....
but if you must know, yes Jesus was Jewish, as his mother was jewish, and he lived in jewish society, and followed the jewish customs God said (not those of the religious leaders). But Jesus didn't start a new religion as you might think. God's plan was to create a transition of old Judaism, into a relationship with Him. The jewish laws and customs were to....
a) cover up sin
b) help the jewish nation remember their past, and how God blessed them
c) separate God's people from those who rejected Him.
When Christ came, he preached "the spirit behind the letter": he went further into the root of God's inentions and how to live a godly life. Moses taught the jews "God saith thou shalt not kill", but Christ taught all that "you should not hate other people". Moses said to "love one another, but hate your enemies", but Christs said to "love your neighbour as yourself" and to "love your enemies and pray for those who spitefully use you".
and Jesus wasn't a Christian, as Christian is
a) a term made up by non-Christians
b) means "little Christs, Christ's ones, or Christ's followers"
c) he was already Christ

Jesus was born of a Jewish mother. He didn't preach another religion. The idea is that he fulfilled Old Testament prophecy of the coming of a Messiah. Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism.

Christianity began before Jesus was born. They didn't use the sign of the cross as their symbol until after the crucifixion. They used the sign of a fish. Jesus preached Christianity because the Jewish religion had been corrupted. Remembre he threw al the monet changers out of the temple. The jews used religion as a way of making money. Jesus preached Christianity as a religion of brotherly love and to pray to God and eternal life. The jewish priests taught none of this. They saw Jesus as a threat to their type of religion and that is why they plotted against him.

Jesus didn't believe he was starting another religion. He was jewish and believed he was returning the people of the Jewish faith to their God. He believed in what he was doing and had no knowledge of what was to come. That's what I think but I'm not a Christian so I may not count.

Jesus was a Jew. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ. Jesus told us that He came not to destroy but to fulfill the Law.(Old Testament). Jesus is the Messiah that the Jewish people are waiting for but have not accepted.
