I am 24 and have only ever been on one date with a girl which wasn't really a date. I am severely shy and just clam up when around a girl I like and just cannot seem to talk to her about anything. I even stop talking when a cute girl walks by and start again when she is gone. If I can just get around the shy part, I know I could do ok, but I just can not break it. How can I ask a girl I meet for her phone number without sounding desperate or like a player, and having just said hi?

Learn to flirt... that won't hurt.... smile, make eye contact, find the opportunity to ask her a question that fits the moment.... something casual and not too personal... Just remember, girls are shy too and aren't likely to make the first move (unless she's one of the risky ones), so be confident with yourself...

Sense of humor is always nice... if you can make her laugh or randomly joke about something (that doesn't insult her of course), she'll like it and will talk to you and then just go from there...

Good luck! =)

Asking for a phone number should be the last thing to ask. You could start to talk to her or ask her to dance if you in a discotheque or just have fun with her and talk. When she wants to live or you have to go and you feel that she also likes you , you should ask her number JUST at this point. Remember if just YOU like her that's not enough !!!!
I'm a romantic woman but I like guys also when they just want to flirting. I just would give my number just in this case I mentioned.
Good Luck !!!

Instead of trying to ask her for her number if your that interested and you think she might be give her your number. That way it is in her court if she wants to call or not. If she calls then you should be more comfortable, if she doesn't after a bit then you know either she is not interested or she is shy too. But either way you have gotten over that initial fear you had.

Talk to her a little bit, y'know, get to know her. Then, if there's any chemistry, ask her if you could call her sometime.

That should work. Good Luck.
