this forum is not for religious and spiritual people its for questions under this topic.

most atheists ask questions regarding this topic.

the question becomes why do others ask questions about evolution? that should be asked under the science board.

I asked a great deal of questions before I became atheist. I'm still asking questions. I hope I'm asking questions the day I drop dead!

I have to agree with you. As an Atheist I am curious as to how people of various spiritual backgrounds view ethical and moral dilemmas in the light of their religion. I am also curious as to how people view those who do not share their beliefs.

I could definitely do without the evolution debates. Also the flood debates, the why are you here questions, and the bible study questions when the person asking obviously knows the answer.

On the other hand, I will sometimes jump into these because it can be fun. So I guess I'm guilty as well.

What I really wish would vanish from the topic is the hate. Lately it has been directed at Islam. Before that there was a concerted attack on homosexuality. And, of course, there is a steady stream of "you're going to hell" comments. None of these advance the goals of the person making the comment unless those goals are merely to make people feel hated.

Peace.

Ahem. Atheism is a belief that no higher, trans-personal, moral authority exists in the universe. If you are going to be an atheist at least try to understand what you are espousing.

Religion, by definition, accepts the notion of a higher moral authority, so questions posted here should reflect and even challenge that underlying assumption.

Atheists should seek out philosophy forums, as that is where their own belief systems emerged from in the first place.

Good point.

The "answer," of course, is that religious freaks feel that evolution theory is impinging on the divine authority of the bible.

For them, everything is to be referred back to The Book; so there's really no topic that doesn't belong in this section, as long as some scriptural text can be dug up in support or rebuttal.

To get an idea of how absurd this is: it's as if evolutionary biologists were lobbying to insert Wright's coefficient of relationship into the Lord's Prayer.

The religious mindset actually unsuits people to take an intelligent view of anything. It's a dead-end. If you take one book (as interpreted by your particular cult) as the end-all be-all authority on all matters, you clearly aren't interested in original thought or progress. Hence these people have consistently burned our pioneers for daring to "think outside the box."

I am a Christian and I'm glad you're here. Atheists make things interesting and bring a different view to this forum. I'm sure you're respectful of our beliefs but honestly, many atheists are just here to insult and make sport of us who believe in God. Here's some examples.

This atheist girl I'm dating wants me to rent a comedy. Should I get "Passion of the Christ" for her?

What's the difference between being a Christian and having a delusional disorder?

know a gay minister, he can heal the sick, is god working through him. Is God OK with Gay?

These were all asked on this site recently by atheists. So, yes you are welcomed if you have some respect.

Atheist people are heretic's.Their not going to listen.Their motivated by Satan and fueled by hate. There is no good in them and Judgment awaits them.Shake the dust off your feet Christians.Rebuke them openly as it tells us to do in Titus 1:10-16.That others might learn and be saved.Christians are not punching bags and it's time we all started standing up for Christ and His Bride.I see to many "christians" today more worried about offending man than God.The tails wagging the dog and it's time for the Dog to wag the tail.

Definitely true that no one should be excluded from seeking to understand religion and spirituality. Why is it though that extremists of all types choose to use this forum to promote conflict and insult each other? This applies to both religious and non-religious folks. Too bad too, because with all of the different ideologies present people are often wasting a great opportunity to learn from and understand people different from themselves. I see no ideological boundary for this type of ignorant behavior either.

They only ask questions (bad ones) to either A. Bash Christians e.i. So If you eat god, are you a caniabal? Or B. Hear other atheists agree with them.

I'll post more examples here:
Why did Jesus Kill himself?
Why do believers exist?
How can we stop the christian population from rising?
Evolution conquers religoun, the truth hurts doesn't it? (not even a question might I add)
Why do I hate christians?

I could keep going if yall would like, or do ya kinda get the picture on where I'm coming from
