This has probably happened a lot more than most people think. I dont have any specific numbers but I know events like "The Toughman Competition" are notorious for having people die in the ring as a result of their inexperience

Simple answer - yes ... but dont judge boxing on that, its one of the safest sports out there with the lowest injury record. Freak accidents happen in all sports its a risk that any athlete has to accept. just look at that long jump skiier that recently cracked his skull, it can happen in any sport.

quite often...Max Baer took out one by himself and set up Schaaf for Primo Carnera to take out. There are many cases if you just look, I don't know of a lot of big names in recent times. but boxing is a dangerous sport, especially since theres so many miss matches now adays.

a lot some of a not even in the news. the last big name who died was johnson (?) something when he fought jesus chavez for the 135 pound championship.

Yes Ray(boom boom)Mancini , I believe had one of his opponents die as of result of their boxing match, and there have been others.
