Anything sharp and dangerous, or liquids/gels in containers over 3 ounces are not allowed in your carry-on luggage. A few items are not allowed in your checked bags like explosives or flammables. You need to review the TSA website for a complete list of prohibited items.

There is a long list of items for permitted and prohibited items . It is found in the US government site from the Transportation Security Administration. It lists all the current regulations and items that are permitted and prohibited on planes.
Just type into the Yahoo search box the following"
"tsa prohibited and permitted items ".
When you click onto this search, the first website on the list is the TSA website.
The first link will give you all the information you need.
Relax, and enjoy your flight.

I would suggest that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you in both your checked and carry on luggage. Right now the emphasis seems to be with liquids and gels.
Hope this helps and have a great flight!
