Its hard to say from this description because there are several types of hormones associated with thyroid function. The thyroid gland releases a couple of hormones that control metabolism. The more hormones released, the higher the metaboilc rate. So,elevated thyroid hormones cause a person to feel hot, they raise the pulse rate, and make a person feel a little bit nervous or restless. This conditions is called a hyperthyroid condition.

On the other hand, there is another hormone that controls the amounts of hormones released from the thyroid gland. This hormone is abbreviated TSH. TSH slows down the release of thyroid hormones. So, high levels of TSH means that the thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones, and the metabolic rates is too low. This condition is called a hypothyroid condition. The symptoms include feeling cold all teh time, lack of energy, depression, and fatigue.

It can mean two entirely opposite things. If its that the TSH is elevated, then its hypothyroidism (underactive) If its that your thyroid hormones are elevated, then it meand hyperthyroidism (overactive) You need to find out what your doctor meant, then you will know which one it is that you have.

Elevated thyroid means over-active thyroid gland (hyperactive).
Underactive is hypothyroid, and euthyroid means it's normal.
