they are becomeing extinct an i think they are awsome, why so little publicity? i think we should have rescues for them , breeding programs. make them a common animal, anyone else think so?

They are beautiful, but NOT domesticated & would never make a reliable, trustworthy pet. Consider donating to wildlife programs dedicated to saving them.

There are breeding programs. many zoos around the world are working to ensure their survial. The big problem is that there aren't enough conservation groups working to save their habitat to ensure that they actually have a 'home' to go home to. Further, some type of method needs to be put in place to control rabies which has become an epidemic in some parts of africa. Domesic dogs have spread this disease to wild animals and it has had a devestating effect on the wild dog population. Without a home to return to and a protection from the ravages of rabies, the wild dog will not be safe.

They are not a domesticated species, like it has been mentioned. They also have a pretty strong musty odor (I shadowed with a zoo vet and I helped treat an African hunting dog) and are the most efficient group predator in Africa. NOT a pet. Get a catahoula leopard dog. They have somewhat similar coat pattern.

what form of a cat are you - asking that query?! sought after dogs breed? Aha! you're a dogs in a cover of an relatively fat cat eating bud mild, anybody knows that cats drink martini and not beer. Hah, what are you going to to now, you're uncovered ;-) My sought after dogs breed is - German Shepherd. I definitely love this dogs simply by fact whilst they seem at me with those vast brown eyes this is like they're taking the dive into my soul, they seem so clever and heat. I basically love 'em. Golden retrievers are lovable canines besides, they're very affecionate and playful. it relatively is a sort of dogs which will stir your thoughts and improve your temper at any time.

They are not domesticated..they are wild like coyotes and wolves and are not really considered a dog breed per se. I don't believe any kennel club recognizes them a breed of dog.
