The Episcopals keep the monetary gifts at home.

The Catholics must ask permission from the pope-pee to keep money at home.

The Catholics ask Mary to forgive their sine.

Episcopal people pray directly to God.

One thing I will point out. If you are hungry and need help from a USA Catholic Church. You will be hungry a long time; the pope-pee needs to pray and seek guidance in giving you food. You could stay hungry for a very long time.

The Roman Catholic Church began with the Council of Nicea in 324 A.D. which deified Jesus as the leader of the new state religion, thereby creating the Holy Roman Empire. The Episcopal Church has its traditional foundation from the Anglican Church which was created in England by Henry VIII and further substantiated by Queen Elizabeth I, after the reign of the Catholic Queen, "Bloody" Mary Tudor, brought the Roman Catholic Inquisition into England. The Episcopal Church generally adheres to the teachings and practices of the Anglican Church and is often considered to be the American off-shoot of the Anglican Church. Both the Roman Catholic and the Episcopal Churches are similar in style and celebrate a Eucharistic service with a Holy Communion ritual.

The usual mixed bags of flakes, homers, and conscientious people answered this.

A couple of clarifications. Henry VIII did create the Anglican Church after he was refused a divorce from Catherine of Aragon. However, what the original poster conveniently forgets is that the papacy routinely granted divorces during that time period when no male issue was produced in a royal couple, chiefly to prevent bloody succession struggles to the throne. However, the Pope of the time was trying to put together a military alliance against the French, and Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon would have kept England firmly in the Hapsburg camp. So basically, the Catholic Church reaped what it sowed by interfering in European politics.

Another fact I would like to point out. One diocese has installed a gay bishop, over the strident objections of the rest of the Anglican Communion. However, he leaves unsaid that the Catholic Church covered up for the actions of literally thousands of child molestors in its ranks (by the church's own reckoning). The church paid off the victim's family, and moved the offending priest to another church, where he could commit the same crime all over again.

Liturgically, the two churches are very similar, although the Episcopal Church is a little higher than the Catholic Church.

Episcopalians do not elevate Mary to the degree that Catholics do. At the same time, we believe in a married priesthood (a concept endorsed by Paul in several different letters) and do not believe in transubstation (a concept that is completely absent from scripture). Otherwise, you'll see a broad range of beliefs represented.

Henry VIII was a Roman Catholic who wanted sons. His wife gave him daughters. He wanted a divorce. The Church said "No!" He got ticked off. How dare a Pope tell him, a King, what he could not do! He got the divorce, had his wife killed, then another when no sons were born. He made himself the head ot the Church of England and gave his subjects a choice: join his church or leave the country, or die. Many died, many left, many joined and the Anglican Church was born. Many Roman Catholic priests, Nuns, and Bishops joined his Church.
The Roman Church has the Pope as its leader, the Anglican or Episcopal as it is called in the US, has the monarch of England. as its head.

The Catholic Church is the true Church founded by Jesus Christ for all mankind. The Episcopal Church is one of the thousands of conflicting Protestant churches that have broken away from the true Church of Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church teaches the fullness of Christian truth, just as it was received by the apostles from Jesus Christ. The Episcopal Church, like all Protestant churches, teaches partial truth, having rejected many of the original truths of Christianity.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.
