I had a misdemeanor charge from 1997-1998,but thought It was cleared, now my recruiter sadi he got a call from MEPS, stating that it was not cleared up completely, that I still had some community service hours, I had to complete. My recruiters are trying to see what they can do. Could I be discharched from joining the Navy, now? .......................

chances are NO for misdemeanor, if it was a felony, yes they would give you a discharge. Chances for a misdemeanor and one thats that old is there would be a waiver by the military. But you may have to go back to court and tell the judge you really want to join the military and its a great opportunity for you and he will probably waive the community service as long as the military gives him a report when you finish your basic training that you are a good guy.

Ask your recruiter, he can tell you about waivers

It's your lucky day. Dude the navy sucks. Join a real service. Get your record cleared and go see a CG recruiter. I was just stationed on a navy base and all the squids wished they were on our boat.

No. They are not even considering it. Not for a misdemeanor. When they ran you through the system at MEPS it just popped up, and it was something you just forgot about, right?
You are in the Navy.

...All things are possible ..But I doubt it on a misdemeanor , h*ll , I have 9 on me and was able to go to the criminal justice academy, and on to the state fire academy no one really counts misdemeanors anyway .....plus it sounds like they are trying to help you ,so they are on your side that is a big plus I think you recruiter will be able to do some talking , most judges will dismiss community service when you go to military service ..
Good Luck ...

No, don't sweat it...this is just a little bump in the road that'll pass. A buddy of mine had the same problem but it worked out so good luck in the service.

right now the plan for republicans is to send you through anyways. Army and marines recruits are being allowed with past criminal records.

Your recruiter most likely will talk to the authorities and vouge for you and state why allowing you to serve would be good.
Then they might rush you to serve your service hours before you get shipped off to basic

i doubt that they would.......it might push back your boot camp till you get it cleared up. you'll prolly not be officially in the navy till its cleared up.

No... they will just have you make it up who knows they might let you slide or use your navy hours to make up for it
