Um, no. In the 21st Century, "demonic possession" is called Paranoid Schizophrenia. And trust me, it's very real.
If you bring me someone who is supposedly "possessed," I'll take him to a psychiatric facility. A few weeks of major tranquilizers, intensive therapy and emotional support, and I guarantee he'll no longer be "possessed."
Religions came up with the concept of demonic possession because they didn't understand the nature of chemical imbalance-based mental illnesses. It's not Satan, it's ignorance of science. So-called "exorcism" is usually accomplished by instilling a new set of delusions in the mind of the ill person. It takes time, but it can be done. Ever notice "exorcism" takes several weeks to months to accomplish? They just replace devilish delusions with Jesus delusions. Of course, it can happen that the original delusion resurfaces, which I guess you would call a repossession. It doesn't change the fact the person is still sick.
I would venture to say most other cases of "demonic possession" are people putting on a great act in order to avoid something unpleasant in their lives.

Demons do not exist. God being Just and Good would not create a being who's sole purpose is for evil, with no opportunity to evolve to a better state.

Obsession is more to what you may be referring to. An individual may become obsessed by a spirit who is disincarnate (not here presently in a corporeal form), this is usually because the individual wronged that spirit in a former circumstance, and that spirit has not forgiven the offense. Obsession is a very unfortunate circumstance. It has been linked to depression, schizophrenia, and a host other physical and psychological ailments.

Disobsession is done through prayer and spiritual therapy and surgery if needed. You may want to look up Jon of God in Brazil who has a website that can further explain

Demon possession? Yeah...

Anything to do with the Christian faith? YEAH RIGHT!

Demons are mentioned in almost every single religion in the world, christianity has absolutly no priority over them.

What can be done about it? Demons only possess those with a weak will power, and the only thing to help it is if they choose to rid themselves of whatever's trying to take over. It could be a demon, it could be an angel (don't put it past them just because a book says so), it could even be another human. Priests, crosses and prayers? Only an idiot would try these things.

Yes it is real. Yes I've seen several. You have to have the power of God in you through living in right relationship with Him before you will have the power and authority to deal with it. Jesus said some kinds don't come out but by prayer and fasting - so you have got to be prayed up and have done some fasting in your life. Once YOU are ready then confront the demon, who will probably manifest in some way, and command it to come out of the person. There is no sense in asking it questions and dragging it out - Jesus only asked one demon possessed man for the name of the demon and that was to show us that there could be more than one at a time (he said his name was legion for there were many). Anyway Jesus usually just said be silent and come out of him. There's a preacher who likes to ask the demon all kinds of stuff but since demons are liars you can't believe anything they say anyway and Jesus didn't do that. We have authority over demons and don't have to be afraid of them - if we are in right relationship with the Lord who is the authority and Power. God Bless.

yes

when a person's body has been taken over by an evil spirit and their soul is no longer independant, making it difficult, near impossible, for a person to think and act freely. Possession can be brought about by the occult/witchcraft, psychic/spiritual experiences, or simply a spiritual void, as in not being saved.

thankfully, no.

get a Christian who [preferrably] has driven out demons in the name of Jesus Christ before. One of great faith, no unrepented sins, is not living sinfully, and their faith in God is greater than their natural fear.

No... there certainly isn't an ounce of reality behind the idea of "demon possession." It's all a bunch of made-up nonsense that is fun for movies and novels but dangerous for weak-minded people.

If the idea of "demon possession" was sold off-the-shelf like a common product, it would require a federal warning label: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND ADULT MORONS.

Yes, it doesn't happen over night , but it exists. When a person is demon possessed he will do the devils bidding and not his own.
