i dont think that it really matters how long you have known the person...cause once you guys start dating you'll start to know each other, and since you guys have already known each other for a year, that's pretty good..me and bf didnt know that each that well, we only talked a few times before we starte going out and we are doing great, and we have gotten to know each other...just get together and i'm sure it'll be fine if you both like each other...good luck...
