very good question my only thought would be perhaps they do believe somewhere in their heart and just are trying to deny it

First of all Tammy Faye, the red herring that we believe in no god so we can do evil all day long is just your way of demonizing someone that doesn't share your superstition. I am far more moral, by biblical standards, than nearly all the Christians I've known. I am absolutely responsible in that I neither blame gods nor devils for what I do or fail to do, and instead of babbling about Jesus I get out there and make a differnec in the lives of people that need help. i don't struggle with being ethical and moral because I have embraced these things as my own. they aren't imposed from without by church, peer group, phoney holy book, phoney holy man or what have you. And if you'll simply look at the thousands of years you believers have made a complete mess of the world, murdering, pillaging, conquering and torturing in the name of your god, it might give you an idea why we think your beliefs need to be resisted, because if you believers had your way we'd still be squatting in our bedouin tents and sacrificing goats to the mountain god.

What Christian chat rooms have you seen Atheists in?
Atheists (and other non Christians) don't deny your god so that they aren't responsible for their actions. That's absurd. Atheists don't believe a god exists, period, so there's nothing to deny..
If you believe in some final judgment, that's great - act accordingly. But why would you deny others the right to their own beliefs?

Atheists don't work to deny that God exists. The work is defending themselves from ignorant statements like "if you choose to deny a god so that u aren't responsible for ur actions during ur life...then so be it". (Considering that over 80% of the prison population are Christians, and less than 1% are atheists, that statement is ridiculously stupid.)
And atheists don't harass believers nearly as much as believers harass atheists. How many times has your doorbell been rung by an atheist handing out literature, and asking you if you have accepted the non-existance of God into your heart?

I would say that "YOU" are being quite judgmental. I'm sure that not ALL "atheists" join christian chat rooms to harass christian believers. This is a very diverse world, any everyone is entitled to, (and has) their own opinion on all matters, religion included. For the record I am not atheist, nor am I siding with them. I just think that your question is more judgmental based on your personal experiences rather than being a reasonable question.

A. This isn't a Christian chat room.
B. There are also Christians who like to hang out in pagan chat rooms and atheists chat rooms and even in science chatrooms looking for a debate. Some people just love the fun of a debate and some like to do what's called fundie-bashing which is just pointing out flaws in doctrine to get the fundamentalists seething.
C. There are more than just the handful of atheists that you find in these rooms, most of them don't have the time of day for believers of any religion.
Stop making up ways to be persecuted.

Imagine for a minute that there was a group out there trying to mold science to their religious beliefs, force your children to listen to their dogmatic babble, and establish government policy based on their religion. And before you jump to your own defense, this applies to Islam, Judaism, as well as Christianity. I would not go into any Christian chat room for any purpose, but when dogma rears it's mythically ugly head to affect my existence, or my children's, I will do battle.
By the way, I hope you realize this is NOT a Christian chat room.

Because you go round pretending that there is factual scientific evidence for god and that everyone should believe in him when in fact there is no evidence for god at all and you are indoctrinating children into a belief system which forbids questioning and logic and prevents an understanding of the world around us. If you want to believe in god fine but don't pretend you are right and certainly don't try to tell people you are right especially children. Say no to jesus.

I have never gone to a Christian chat room. This is Religion and Spirituality and even though I do not believe in god I still have a spiritual component to my existence.

This is neither a chat room, nor Christian in nature. Your black and white thinking scares me.
This is also the only religious interactive site that I visit.
If your faith in God was unflappable, you would not have to ask this question. The very fact that you have posted it for the world to see indicates that someone, somewhere on this site (most likely), has caused you to question your beliefs.

There's always a few like that in every group - I've seen Christians harrassing atheists and pagans on their sites, conservatives attacking liberals, and vice versa, on partisan political boards, John Byrne fans lurking on comics forums waiting to leap out if the object of their idolization is criticized, etc. So, it's not just atheists, it's obnoxious jerks of every creed.
