Read the Bible.

Abraham had two sons. Ismael and Isaac. Ismael became the father of the Arabs. Isaac had a son, Jacob. Jacob had 12 sons who became the 12 tribes of Israel. Sometime after Moses lead the the 12 tribes out of Egypt, they divided into two kingdoms. The Northern kingdom was made up of primarily 10 of the tribes. while the southern kingdom was Judah and Benjamin. The Northern kingdom, because of sin, was conquered and the 10 tribes were scattered and lost. The southern kingdom was ruled by the tribe of Judah, so they all became known as Jews even though many were of the tribe of Benjamin.

So Jews are the descendants of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin,

God called Abram (called Abraham later) out of the land of the Chaldea (which is in the lower Mesopotamian area).

God made promises with Abram and his descendants that if they would follow His commands, He would be their God.

They are from the 4th son of Jacob (also called Israel) whose name was Judah. Their faith comes from Abraham's covenant with Yahweh.
