Get the ice cream out of the freezer and let it thaw out for about 10 minutes. Wash your hands and dry them with a towel. Next open the ice cream lid and (depending on how big you want your scoops) stick your hand in the container and take what you want out of it. It works for me.

You could take it out of the freeze a few minutes before you go to scoop it out, so that it softens up.

Use a strong ice cream scoop, dip it in cool water for easier scooping.

Do NOT use warm or hot water. You will be melting the ice cream around what you have scooped out. And we all know how re frozen ice cream tastes.

I work three summers in an ice cream shop in high school. We never used hot water in the scoopers.

Just take the ice cream out of the freezer about ten minutes before you want to serve it. It is easier to scoop out that way.

With an ice cream scooper or a large spoon. If it is too hard let it sit out or put in the microwave for a few seconds, or you can run the spoon under hot water.

have a cup of hot water to dip the scooper in after each scoop, it makes it cut through the ice cream nicely and comes off the scoop without any mess.
