It's a 4 1/2 hour flight coast to coast. One plane leaves Los Angeles at 4:40p.m. heading for New York at 435mph. Another leaves New York at 6:05p.m. heading for Los Angeles at 687mph. Which plane will be closer to New York when they pass each other?

If you take into account the different time zones, they will both be at the same distance from New York (Ha Ha thought I was going in a different direction?). Unless they both crash into each other, then what State would they bury the survivors?

The one that left New York...there's a 3 hour time difference between LA and New York...so the NY plane will have been in the air for about 1 1/2 hours before the LA plane even takes off

When they pass each other, they will be in the same spot, so they are both the same distance from New York

The two planes are actually equidistant but the one heading for New york will be closer after they cross.
