This section is a great forum for those of us who wish to educate and be educated in regards to our faith(s). What do you (non-believers) get out of making everyone dislike you? You're NOT going to change a believer's mind by the comments I've seen here. Most of us have heard every anti-Christian comment (and I know I've heard EVERY anti-CATHOLIC comment there is).
Just please leave us to our productive discussion. I'm sure there are better-suited discussions for you in the Philosophy and Science sections.

But Happykid, even "spiritual" people (not necessarily Poly- or Monotheistic people) have no reason to make such inappropriate and negative comments about Christians (mainly) and what we believe. There is no use for it.

This section is not for certain people, its for anyone who wants to talk about religion and Spirituality. Non-believers have opinions too and just as they have to listen to our president talk about his faith with total disregard to the hundred of other faiths Americans practice, sometimes, the believers will have to hear points of view from those who do not believe.
And you can't MAKE anyone dislike you. I am a Christian and I know that I don't mind or are bothered by Atheists. Why? because my faith tells me that I am to be good to everyone and love everyone. My actions and my humanity are what attract people to ask about my faith not my judgements and scorn and disdain.
All the judgement is what keeps non-believers from wanting to believe.

Not this again.

You. Do. Not. Need. To. Be. Religious. To. Have. An. Opinion. About. Religion.

Some people study Greek mythology for a living. Do they worship Zeus? No. They're just interested in the subject. Why is that so hard to understand?

Edit: I apologize if I came across as a little irritated here, but this question gets posted constantly at this forum and I honestly cannot understand why it's asked. Seriously, what makes you think that a nonreligious person is either incapable or not allowed to have an opinion about religion? You have opinions about Islam, don't you? This is a place for discussion -- not solely for the religious or non-religious, but to anyone with an opinion.

Your argument cuts both ways. Consider that some people believe that questions about Christianity belong in Mythology and Folklore. In a public forum, EVERYONE is entitled to his or her opinion or idea.

If you want a "productive discussion" limited only to Christians, then you want a discussion only with people who agree with you. Why wouldn't you start your own Yahoo Group rather than posting on this public site?

This section is about religion (and spirituality). Just because I don't believe in a god, does not mean I don't have an interest in religion.

And if you've only noticed the anti-religious comments then you've not been paying attention. There are at least as many anti-atheist comments. And both theists and atheists bait one another.

don't you think that your belief should be updated to the world's modern philosophical point of view? If you know so much about christian philosophy then you should know that it has taken many of its original concepts from Plato's philosophy. I find it quite hypocritical to ignore the philosophy that stands at the very roots of your religion. If you want to know why do we insist so much about changing your piece of mind, than you should read Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. I mean i don't mind you hating us, i just mid seeing some brilliant people go to waste because the believe in some silly 2000 year old tradition.

I know that it's frusterating when people seem like they're harassing you and judging you for your beliefs, but you know what? I think that it's good that people who don't believe are on this section of the site because at least they're reading about truth right? Even though they seem to deny it and try to bash it... no word of the Lord goes unheard and maybe something will click with them. I say accept them and love them just as you love your fellow believers.... as hard as that sometimes is.

I'm sorry if my presence bothers you so...the presence of parts of your religion in society that has effect on my life bothers me too.

If you don't want us here, STOP TALKING ABOUT US. How many times do I have to state that that is the reason I ended up in this section. (And btw...it's for all people...not just those of some form of Christianity! Even for just those that are "Spiritual" and don't follow a religion...check out the section name, it's true! Imagine that.)

As long as ''believers" mess with politics, education and my freedoms, I'll say whatever I want to anyone, especially those who go into a public forum. If you can't take it you can talk and ask questions in church, or to the other 190,000,000 Christians in this country.

Thank you for asking this question!!! The very bigotry and judgmental attitude that we Christians are often accused of are displayed by many of the hateful, mean-spirited comments of many non-Christians who answer questions that are directed at Christians. If a person sincerely wants to discuss religion and beliefs, then fine. If their purpose is to make fun, express hate and be mean, then they need to take it somewhere else. Thanks for the question. My sentiments exactly!
