a bacteria called staph is the culprit. the gym with its warm moist areas are prime places for staph to grow! keeping clean at the gym to prevent staph from coming in contact with your skin is prime. use a towel as a barrier in common areas such as on benches, seats, and bicycles. shower right after you leave the gym. neutrogena makes an acne body wash that's excellent too for skin and use your scrubby gloves, but throw them out after a few times to prevent recontamination. don't rub or pick the areas!!!
