While you question is simple , your information is slanted. California was bought and paid for.
So let the illegal immigrants go back to whereever they call their homeland .

While it is true that the United States acquired a large amount of territory from Mexico as one of the terms of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, it is often forgotten that the U.S. paid Mexico $15 million for this land, that the land held less than 1% of Mexico's population, that Mexico exercised very little actual control over it, and that some of its citizens were actually in favor of either British or American rule.

After the war, Mexico's treasury was depleted. There was no money to pay the millions of dollars in debts Mexico had owed private U.S. citizens for decades but Mexico had plenty of mostly unoccupied land. The territory that was acquired from Mexico constituted an indemnity for the cost of a war the United States had not sought and in return for the United States government's agreement to pay Mexico's long unpaid debts to U.S. citizens.

We should keep California, then catalog and return all of the illegals back to Mexico. If they return, a progressive return policy should be enforced. For example, let's say Juan Doe decides to return to the US illegally after being caught the first time, recorded/photographed as an illegal, and then deported back to Mexico. He's caught again only a couple of weeks later. He's immediately deported to southern Mexico. A month later, he shows up again. He is then immediately deported to southern Columbia. He continues to return back to the US illegally time and again only to be shipped off further and further away until he finally ends up in Antarctica.

The same could be said about Canadians entering illegally, only difference is that their "final" destination is the North pole.

It was shared equally until the Gold Rush of 1848. The white man ran out any foreigner that came seeking wealth.
Today it is shared once again. Why would we give it to a foreign country like Mexico? If we do that, then we have to give back New Mexico and Arizona too. (and part of Texas, oh, and extending up into southern Colorado).

We should vote in someone willing to do something about it. Not only Mexicans come in but terrorists, commies, et al. There are 1500 terrorist groups in 150 states. Border Patrol Agents get thrown in jail. It's the wrong people in important positions adulterating the law. Duncan Hunter/Huckabee among a few others will do something about security.

California was never part of Mexico. Some of the land may have been part of a treaty, signed before anyone's great-great-great grandparents were born.

Even if it had been, so what?

Should we give back the Louisiana Purchase too? Let the French take care of New Orleans?

Maybe all the Mexicans should leave - go back to Spain, and give the land back to the tribes that were there.

And those tribes should go back across the Bering Strait. Leave the land as it was.

Sorry, I have no patience for this anymore.

We don't have to give it back to them, the way it is going there will soon be enough of them up here to take, not only mexico but the rest of the states.

First of all some of the comments don't even make sense because Mexican ppl are not from Spain and they are not alienated ppl because everyone is. I don't think we should give mexico, California nor send them back because that would be impossible. Also we are actually no body to send ppl back to somewhere where they are from because in that case we should send everyone ''home'' then if the U.S is ''home of the brave and freedom''

Only get rid of the illegals, which in a place like California it's going to be hard to do. But we can't give California back to Mexico...I mean we've got Hollywood, San Francisco, L.A.,the Oscars is usually hosted in CA.

California only belonged to Mexico for 25 years, with the south being mostly controlled by Californios and the north heavily populated by European Americans already. All Mexican claims on California based on the past are delusional and divisive. I think we could close the borders to new immigration and just deal with the people living here on a case by case basis. There's too many of them to send home. But that's just my opinion. There are alot of raids going on now in which illegals who are also drug dealers, theives, etc are being arrested but they aren't bothering the "workers" and immigrants. So compromise is possible, even if temporarily.
