Obviously all equipment needs to be clean. Fresh chemicals is the biggest thing in a darkroom. A safety light is necessary as well. Make sure your paper is kept in a black, sealed container. Familiarize yourself with the darkroom and make sure it is set-up in order of the steps to be followed. Englarger first, then set up your developer, stop bath, finisher. Lock on door a must! You should go in, turn off all lights, open your eyes, wait for you eyes to adjust and then make sure there are no light leaks. Go to a well established photo supply store (one that ONLY deals with photography and not Staples or any big box store). I would also suggest looking up a good step-by-step book at Barnes & Noble and reading it before even starting. Good luck.

You will need a red safe light and paper and chemicals.
When you remove your film from the canister you must be in total darkness and get it onto the carrier and into the developer tank. Then turn on the lights and finish out the process.
Pouring in the developer then a rinse and a stop bath and a fix and then rinse and hang dry your negatives.
To print you can use the red safe light and it will not harm the paper.
Also must have developer and stop and rinse for hte photo paper and you will need an enlarger.
