i am 42 and just had a knee replacement in January. I also had arthritis in both knees. The knee with the replacement is feeling wonderful, I cannot believe the difference and will be getting the other knee done in a year or so. I tried the supplements for about 2 years and did not get any relief so I am kinda down on them I really do not think they work. Have the replacement and about a week after you will start to be glad that you did, a month later you will wonder what took you so long. Good Luck

You might find something to help for a while, but the damage has already been done. I have had several friends go through replacement. One friend with one knee, the other with both. Both of them both say "If I had known how much better it was going to be, I would have done it sooner". Knee replacement is no biggie any more and the recovery is over before you know it. You too will realize that you forgot what it was like to be out of pain. Good Luck.

I've heard they do wonderful things with joint replacement. I know several people who have had knee replacement and everyone has been very happy except for a couple who refused to do the physical therapy required and ended up with locked knees. I'd say, have the surgery, since nothing else is working, but be sure to do the physical therapy as prescribed. My mom had the surgery a few years before she died and she was able to get around really well.

Glucosamine might help mild arthritis, but if you are a joint replacement candidate you you no longer have any cartilage in your knees to help It will not hurt you to take it but is not likely to give you any pain relief.
Joint replacement is a very safe procedure and will make you PAIN FREE after your recovery.
Best of luck.

I had a knee replacement and a shoulder replacement. Do not worry about the surgery. There will be pain but you will be given medication to control it. As someone stated previously, physical therapy is a requirement. In my opinion, the surgery is well worth it. I never found any relief from the supplements.
Good luck with your surgery, you will not regret your decision to have the replacement. I know I didn't.

It takes two to three months of taking glucosamine daily to know if it really helps or not.
