Morton's Neuroma is a tumor-like swelling of the nerve that runs between the smaller toes. It is caused by the bones in the joints constantly rubbing against the nerve. I happens a lot in women who wear point toed shoes or people who wear shoes too narrow. I believe it usually occurs between the middle and fourth toes. I had surgery for this problem and the doctor removed them from two different joints. They can be quite painful. I was going barefoot most of the time until I finally found out what the problem was.
