Because if it was in the middle of the week, odds are, you not get a three day weekend.

Easter is one of the most notable "movable feasts" as already described, the formula for commemorating Easter is according to the appearance of a full moon around the vernal equinox. However, the British Government had set wheels in motion to have Easter fixed and this was done in the 1920's. I think the legislation was passed and it could, in theory, be introduced whenever there is the will to do so. Seems as though they don't feel like another fight with the Church.

If my awareness is stable it relatively is as a results of the fact we stick to the Jewish custom of putting some feasts via the lunar cycle. on a similar time because it relatively is not needed, this is been the classic Christian custom to realize this, possibly simply by fact it relatively is a reasonably stable calculation of whilst the 1st Day of Resurrection (Easter)befell. all of us understand that Jesus celebrated the ceremonial dinner of the Passover along with his disciples purely some days in the previous His hobby and dying. "stable" Friday is from the previous English word goode meaning Holy and commemorates Christ's very final affliction on the bypass. by the type, the British government back in the 1920's exceeded legislations to have a fastened party of Easter, yet this regulation has by no potential been enacted.

Jesus Christ was crucified on the 1st Sunday after the 4th full moon of the New Year...it doesn't nessasarilly mean sometime in March or April, but b/c our New Year starts in January and the 4th full moon is usually in March or April.

Chritsmas was celebrated in December b/c the pope declared it to be celebrated that day..Jesus was not born o nDecember 25th nessasarily, just when we celebrate it.

He really dies on Passover.
The translators of the King James and some other translations made a mistake on calling it Easter (It could have been on the same day that year).

Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after March 21 (the day of the ecclesiastical vernal equinox).

EAster was the festival of the Jewish passover, which is timed by the moon, not by the solar year. (Jesus was crucified and resurrected in passover week, accomplishing Old Testament prophecies and symbols). So Easter continues to follow that.

Actually, it wasn't Ishtar. Ishtar is a Babylonian goddess. Easter is named for Eostre, an Anglo-Saxon goddess.

Rabbits and eggs are obviously symbols for fertility.

Easter is not when Jesus dies or was resurrected (if you believe that happened), just as Christmas is not when Jesus was born. Eostre was the goddess of fertility and the festival was appropriated by Christianity, as was Christmas (Yule).

The government has a wonderful way of screwing up even holidays. They think that business is more important than holidays. Remember we used to celebrate Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays on the day of their birth but now they call it "presidents day" and hold it on one day.
