I am under weight and really skinny. I eat lots but I seem to have a high motabolism and burn it all off - even thou I do very littler exercise.

How can I put on weight safely. I want to gain about 7 pounds. Then I will be 7 stone - I am 5'1. I cant seem to even gain 1 pound!

Please dont just tell me to constantly eat junk as this isnt healthy or safe.

Thanks loads.

Im 90 pounds... I eat as much as I can. Im naturally very petite in aswer to one of your questions but I prefer it when i was 100 pounds i looked so much more healthy, clothes fitted me better and I had just a nicer shape. I looked healthier so thats what I want to get back to.
I dont exercise as a rule - maybe swim once every few weeks but thats all!
I get bitchy comments as im very slim but what girls dont realise is that its sometimes as hard for us to put on weight as it it for some people to lose it!

You're right. Eating junk is NOT a healthy way to gain weight. Eat lots of pasta, rice, bread, peanut butter, potatoes and whole milk if you're not lactose intolerant. Keep your cardiovascular workouts to a minimum. Also I HIGHLY recommend "Complete Idiot's Guide to Nutrition" by Joy Bauer. There is a very comprehensive section on gaining weight. You can pick this up at Amazon online or at any local bookstore, I'm sure. Good luck. And gee, I wish I had this problem.

First, you might want to talk to a doctor to see if there is a medical reason for being underweight. An overactive thyroid speeds up your metabolism and makes it difficult to gain weight. You might wanna get that checked, I'm very thin and have an overactive thyroid. If there's no medical problem, eating a balanced diet is about all you can do. Try energy drinks, like Boost, that have a lot of calories. You're right don't pig out on junk, but don't be afraid to indulge in calorie-rich foods.

Theres a couple of ways to help you to gain weight. The first one is to go to your local health food store and get some mega weight builder shake mix, and the other is just by drinking some protein shakes. They will both help you to add a few extra pounds safely. But personally, I am 5'2", and I weigh about 110. And I'm perfectly happy like that. Everyone says I look fine just like this. You can also add extra protein and starches to your diet to help build some weight.
Good luck.

Go to your local GNC store and by a product called max weight gain...it is a protein supplement. I used it...I am 5'9 and weighed 110 pounds and was unable to gain weight no matter how much I ate because of my metabolism. But with this product I was able to put on the 20 pounds I wanted and it is totally safe!

Good Luck

Im 5'6" and weigh about 105 and I have the same problem as you... I can eat whatever I want to and never gain weight... I'd really like to gain about 10 pounds like your saying, but its not as easy as people think (its like trying to loose weight for larger people, but backwards, haha) ....... But I actually talked to my docter about a safe way for me to gain weight and he told me I should try Protein Supplements.... you can get them as pills or as a powder that you mix with a drink.... I've tried the protein mixes for drinks but they tasted very nasty and I wouldnt suggest it, unless you dont mind the bad taste.... But now I take a protein vitamin everyday, it gives me the nutrients that help my body grow...... But the best thing for you is to eat healthy and exercise (muscle weighs more than fat).... good luck

Are you really unhealthy-ly skinny, or are you just small? Personally, at 5'3" and 87 pounds, I'm not fat. Everyone hates me for being so skinny! And I have been worried about this also. In ht end, we just have really good metabolisms, and are perfectly healthy. it is just as important for us as everybody to have enough exercise and a good diet- so do those things, and you shoul dbe fine! But, if you're really worried, go see your doctor.
Hope this helped!

You might try to eat more carb rich foods such as pasta, bread, rice, cereals, drink whole milk, eat ice-cream. Eat bigger portions and keep exercise to a minimum.
