We get so much into this religion thing when it comes to would you vote for.... Religion is not supposed to be a factor in government. I think its typically been seen by spin docs as a symbol of someones goodness. I am Christian, but I do not see that as any promise that a person is a good person (Bush is Christian).
Therefore, my answer would be, if a man or woman had a good platform for their election, if they came across as strong, determined and principled, I would vote for them and their religion would have NO bearing on it at all.

Yes, I find it difficult & wouldn't vote for a Mormon for Presidency. I only would if I asked God in prayer & the Lord told me to vote that way.
The problem is the Mormon book. If someone believes it is the Word of God, they are deceived by the one who mixes deception with the truth.
When Joseph Smith said that the Lord God said He was returning to establish His Kingdom in Missouri before Joseph was in his 80s, and it didn't come to pass, then Joseph smith didn't hear from the Lord God. He was wrong. And he made the Mormon book based on what he thought. Joseph Smith wasn't the first to say the Lord God gave me a dream and said He was returning such & such a day... Many have and deceived many.
So, if the President of the US believes the Mormon book, when there are contradictions to the Gospels, Gods Saving Grace & within itself and no geographic or archeological finds to support it; then we are in trouble.
But I am not concerned. A Prophetic word of a Prophet today has said, The Lord says that the next 3 presidents will be Christians, whether Democrat or Republican. If not clearly Christian, God will move on the heart of that President. God bless America. If a Mormon got voted in, that Mormon would convert to Christ as his/her Lord & Savior.
Thanks, bek1221.

No. With the exception of GWBush, no president has been able to single-handedly destroy or harm this nation. There is a system of checks and balances for a reason. Congress would not let a mormon get out of control, nor would the supreme court. The only danger would be if you had mormon majority in the Congress and the SC. You may notice that with the uber-conservative SC and the 6 years of Republican Congress, Bush was able to reduce our country to an internationally contemptable laughing-stock. The circumstances for this were just right, and the election of a mormon president, or muslim, atheist, black, jewish, whatever, would not have much effect on our politics as a nation.

I would have to wonder if being elected president would give him more prestige in heaven and he could then just choose whatever planet he chooses to be a little god over. But honestly, I doubt I'd vote for a mormon, too many odd belief systems there. Of course, if I had a choice between a mormon and a scientologist, I'd choose the mormon,

No, I could vote for someone of any religious background, as long as they were qualified, I agreed with their agenda, they had a good track record in all their endeavors, were moral, etc.
The Mormon faith teaches it's members to be educated and vote according to their ideals and what matters. They don't get involved with political parties and it doesn't matter what party it's members are. One of their current apostles was a very strong Democrat. Anyway, no problems.

Yes. I've lived in a Mormon community more dense than SLC for 28 years, and am not impressed with their, let's say, ideas of equality. However, if the candidate had a record of separating church and state, that would go a long way with me.

I won't vote for Romney because I saw some of the awful crap that happened in Massachusetts not because he's mormon. I could care less about what they do on their sundays.. I just want someone politically qualified.

As long as he isn't a religious whack job like the current commander I don't have a problem with any religion. Put a Muslim in for all I care.

I would find it absolutely impossible to vote for a Mormon president.
There is no such thing in England - now ask about a primeminister and I might be able to answer.
