I have a 2004 dodge dakota 4x4 with a 3.7 and was wondering if it will hurt my truck. I've heard that the oil from the filter ruins sensors.

No, unless you were to clean the filter yourself and over oil the element.......there are millions of these filters on cars and trucks and this is not a common problem

Depends if you drive mainly on the road and change your oil frequently K&N is fine. But if you drive on dusty roads I would stick with the factory type filter. Consider this, no heavy machinery uses gauze filters even though they could save lots of money. People who drive in dusty conditions tried oiled gauze fiters but the oil analysis showed unacceptable rise in silica. I used K&N before, but now use the factory filter. On some vehicles the oil from the filter will wreck the mass airflow sensor.

I put on a cold air intake on my 99 chevy 1/2ton 5.3 liter 4x4 new from the factory and it ruined my mass-air-flow sensor,straight out of the box

Won't hurt your truck, actually improves performance due to less restriction in airflow. Expensive air filters but in the long run they pay for themselves because they are a lifetime part, you just have to clean them once in a while and reoil them.

I have had a K&N in both of my cars (a 1995 Pontiac Firebird & a 2001 Ford Mustang) and never had a problem. They run alot better with them in and you just have to make sure it is dry before putting it back in the car.

hell no ! takes away the restrictiveness of the stock one . the more air . the cooler it runs . more horsepower . think of the ram air concept . never had any warranty issues at dealership and i asked before . k&n in their warranty says the same . easier to clean and cheaper in the long run.

I have one in my 2006 Tacoma and its working great. When you clean the element you have to take care not to over oil it.

you would have to spray the entire service kit into it and normally you dont oil it that heavily.i have been using them for yrs and never had a problem
