hi, all these are correct, really, its affection. both male and female do it sometimes. some never do. some breeds do more than other breeds.and yes, take out the mirror or it will bond with that bird.
Here is a tip for all you bird lovers: and you do have to have a dna test for sexing, but vets charge alot.... here is a hint if you really want to know the sex but dont want to spend 70-80$; look at the ads in the back of the magazine BirdTAlk. you can find it at petsmart, or any pet store pretty much. There are about 3 companies that all offer sexing that are the same ones the vets send their samples to, except-- they only charge about 20$ or so. They offer other tests as well, so its good info to keep on hand. You call their 800# and they send you a little kit that has a cardboard card for you to put a couple drops of blood on it, put in a provided plastic ziploc and send back. they send you a certificate with the sex and your birds name, its very nice and lots cheaper. The way YOU get the blood I think is more humane than the way the vets get it.. just my own opinion, please dont any vets get mad at me.. i do it at work, and hate their way. Vets draw it out of the neck usually, but the home kit, you just trim one claw a tiny bit too much.. little by little until you see a drop, then put it on the card. hold a cold cloth or pressure to it, or touch it to some flour and it will clot. they also offer to tell by if you send some pulled out feathers, but they must be pulled out by you, not dropped off in molting. i think the nail trim is most humane and just be very careful to do in small increments. just a little note for those who dont want to pay the higher fee to find out the sex. They offer almost all the regular tests the vets do when they check out a new bird for diseases too. lot cheaper and reliable. ... my own opinion here, and lots of owners i know as well. the vet fee is for the extra handling and all that.

Regurgitating is a behavior shown by both sexes. It is a display of affection, usually done to a favorite toy, or even you.
However I believe it's more common for a male to be regurgitating than a female.

No, regurgitation just means it is attracted to you and wants you to be its surrogate mate.
Sexing most parrot species is very difficult, with a few exceptions. Parrotlets are one of these exceptions as the male and female have different coloring in their wings (for instance a male green rump parrotlet has blue feathers under its wings, the female is solid green).
Hope this helps.

The only way to find out if it is male or female is to have it DNA tested. Regurgitation is done by both male and female parrot species.

As gross as it sounds, a bird that is bobbing its head in your direction may be "affectionately" regurgitating to you. This is a high compliment. Rarely will a bird actually vomit on you, making a mess- it's more the thought that counts in this case.

It is the males that do the regurgitating. My Amazon does the same thing, so I asked my vet about it.
He sees his toys as "mates".

Birds do this whilst they're linked to a minimum of a few thing. I even have some birds that do this. you may settle for it and don't worry approximately it or get the chook a mate. then you definately could have extra relaxing whilst they have toddlers.
