bt offers free caller display that will show u who is calling then u dont need 2answer,
bt also offer a annoymas call rejection which will block all withheld calls only £4a month,
they also have a choose to refuse service which is free for a month and then £3.50 after that allows u to bar 10numbers

I have had the same trouble. I take it you have a cordless phone similar to a mobile where numbers appear on a screen. Call display option costs £3 pm from BT& you can see your caller's number unless withheld by them. All numbers from abroad have the number withheld.
Alternatively get a loudspeaking answer machine that you can pickup on if you wish. Unsolicited calls esp from abroad seldom leave messages but wanted calls are OK.

Tell BT you are getting abusive calls they will be a tap on your phone or change your number.I would love to know who gives out our numbers im suppose to be ex directory yet they still get hold of mine.
