You cannot have it touched up until 4-6 weeks afterwards. That's how long it takes for the dermis to properly heal to receive more ink without the risk of scarring.
Also, while you are sure you need a touch up, after a week, the tattoo is still going through changes and the colors will be muted, etc.

As a rule, in my many years of tattooing, I always told my clients to wait a minimum of one year before getting touchups. Tattooing produces scar tissue (where the needles pierced the skin). Scar tissue, which is harder than normal skin, takes six months to a year to calm down and soften to where it will effectively take fresh ink. To rework a tattoo that is less than 12 months old takes the risk of creating scar tissue that will not take ink well for a very long time. I've one that I got worked over in 6 months. The result was that it still has faded spots that will still not take ink decades later. You can certainly try a small test patch in 6 months and see if ink will take well to it. But I wouldn't do it any sooner than that. It would help, too, if you applied vitamine E oil to the tattoo once a day for a month, then once a week for six months. This will help to ease the scarring sooner.

you have to wait at least 4-6 weeks but it's better if you can wait longer just so that your skin fully heals and you can truly see what needs touchups and such...during healing, your tattoo is likely to fade somewhat...

u can get touch ups done once it is healed.to prevent these things try using a moisturizer on it or even lip balm ive heard. above all dont pick at it. the ink can and will come off with a scab. also protect it from the sun as much as possible. it will fade if it is too new and in the sun. also be careful in the shower with it. hard water can rip away a scab or effect the color as well.

My artist always tells people that they should wait at least 4 weeks before going back for touch-ups and most other artists I know have a very similar time frame, Tatt-Bratt is right.

i'd wait until it's healed...but why would you need touch ups to a brand new tattoo? if you do, then don't go back to the same shop, because obviously they didn't do their job.
