YES!!! I am a very hard working woman who lives in eastern kentucky and we have so many moochers here it makes me sick. Alot of them are so ignorant they dont even know it comes out of our pockets. I think it is so sad to see this. If I could work two jobs to get through college, the scum out there mooching can get a job. And do we even think about how these ppl drawing off the government are influencing there children??? Just another generation I will be supporting. ALSO I beleive we should drug test every person on welfare and disability. We all have to do it to get jobs so they can do it to sit at home.. I dont know if it is a problem in your area... but here we have ppl drawing welfare selling drugs and making a good living from it too. I dont have a problem with pot but these people are selling pain pills that half the ppl in ky are addicted too. And the sad part is my grandma cant get enough money to pay for her meds.
I could sit here and ***** about this all day but i really feel like this is a major issue, somebody has to do something. I wouldnt mind the money coming out of my checks if it were going to a good cause. YEaH RIGHT , I can look out my window and see all kinds of people run to the mail box on the first of the month, pill residue hanging out of their nose and all. ok ok I'm done
PEOPLE ABUSING WELFARE THINK ITS NOT A PROBLEM CUZ ITS THE GOVERNMENT, WELL THE MONEY COMES FROM ME , DAMN IT GET A JOB!!!!!!!!

The Government is putting limits on welfare benifits, but as long as people keep having new children, it extends the benifits. This was originally a program designed to help those who were out of work during the Depression, because people were literally starving to death in an economy that had no way to support itself without a kick in the rear. This was to help boost morale and get people mentally and physically healthy enough to come together to find a solution to the problem, kind of like feeding troops who are in place long after their time, with no rations, and no ammo. The down turn is that sometimes, this kind of help leads to dependance. AFter all these years, this program is still abused to its full extent, but if we all of the sudden start over regulating, we will have a large population of children that will be in the same boat as our great grandparents were. No prospects, no education, malnutrition that can lead to behavorial problems, an even larger increase in the prison population (can you imagine the problems with incarceration doubling in 15 years simply becasue we decided to stop being generous).
I agree though, we should find a way to take the dependency factor out of the welfare system. They have made it so much easier to sit back, have kids, and collect a check. Welfare was never meant to be a prolonged thing, and it still isn't, but people find ways to drag it out.

I think that there should be a two year time limit for those who are on Welfare continuously and a six year lifetime limit . This should be coupled with job training so that the recipient is able to work by the end of the two year time period. Exceptions should be made to the rule for those with disabilities which prevent them from working. I also believe that there should be a "Workfare" program to reward those who work to support themselves but still cannot make enough to meet a minimum living standard. "Workfare" would set an income level higher than welfare when combined with earnings to give incentive to work. The "Workfare" recipients should be required to work at least 20 - 30 hrs. per week. I think there should also be a maximum lifetime benefit on it as well to provide self improvement incentives.

Yes I do agree with you that there should be a limit to welfare. If it is open ended there is no reason to try to move forward and try to get yourself back on your feet. I also think we do need welfare because let's just say life is unpredictable and it is nice to know that there is a government social plan in place if you need that help, but as with all things some people take advantage of the system. An when they do that they hurt us all.

The situation that you describe makes me sick. That's the problem. Welfare was set up as a temporary means to survive until the family got back on their feet. Now, people are making careers out of it because they are too damn lazy to get out and do an honest days work. So, in the mean time, you and I and the rest of this country's taxpayer's get to foot the bill. Just the other day I was at the grocery store. I was buying ground Beef for spaghetti and the lady in front of me was buying porter house steaks. Guess what she was using to pay for it with. Yep!!!! A link card. Which is what they call food stamps now in this area. Now, do you think that it's fair that she's eating better than me and I'm working my butt off, unlike her?

For most people there are limits to the amount of help you can receive, like unemployment only lasts for so long. However, in the case of this scumbucket, the government isn't going to stop giving her money because "what about the children?" is the common cry.
Personally, I feel there should not only be a TIME limit but a CHILD limit as well. If this woman wants to continue collecting OUR money, she should have to undergo either sterilization or some sort of implanted birth control that she cannot remove or "forget". It is not right that certain people wait until they are ready to raise and support children while others continue to make poor choices and are seemingly rewarded for doing so.
I have absolutely nothing against helping people when they're down. Lord knows, most of us are a paycheck away from being there. However, there are times when people are making a concious choice to ruin their life and the lives of their children and they should not be rewarded. I feel they should be punished for behaving like this.

I have such disrespect for people who don't even try to get off welfare. And the people that keep having babies just to get more welfare money are nothing but low-life moochers. I think that once someone is on welfare they should be required to have a birth control device implanted in them (like an IUD or that thing they put in your arm). And, if they have any more kids while on welfare the kid is put up for adoption and the adult gets no more welfare money. As a tax payer I'm sick of supporting these lazy *** baby-making machines.

yes there should definitely be limits... as usual.. programs that are set up to help people get taking advantage of... 5 kids at the age of 22 is insane... what kind of life are those kids gonna have... why dont they teach and preach birth control?
if people on welfare were held accountable, like maybe having to pay some of it back after 5 years or so... people would not abuse it. its a shame.

I agree with you about the people who cheat the system. I am a stay at home mom, but my df works hard for the money he earns, it really makes us mad when we see how much they take out of his paycheck each time for taxes it is nuts. I mean I don't mind the people who need it having it but c'mon now intentionally cutting your own hours so you don't lose your welfare benefits. Here is a little food for thought for those who cheat the welfare system, there was a lady who lives in the apartment next to mine who had every kind of welfare you could imagine it seemed harmless but when I was talking with her more I discovered that not only was she able to work at least part time she was telling the welfare office that she was on disability and what not and that she had a prolonged leg injury that wouldn't allow her to be on her feet for long periods of time so that was the reason she wasn't working, she was living with her daughter mind you this women is in her 50's and she was making her daughter work and what makes it worse would make the daughter walk to work while she had a car which was really sad because every time I see her walking I will give her a ride. Anyways long story short the other day I seen 4 local police officers one being the chief of police and also two state troopers that came and picked her up, later on when talking to her daughter because this caused a big stir in our apartment complex she was telling me about how they picked her up for welfare fraud and all of this, she has been lying to the state and wasn't announcing that she was living with her daughter and what not needless to say she is in some trouble. It makes me sick that there are really people out there that do this and cheat the system. It kills me because I am a stay at home mother and I am not yet married but only need temporary dental insurance for a week to get a lose filling fixed and what not they won't give it to me. They are making me provide them with at least three thousand dollars worth of back owed medical bills to be able to POSSIBLY get temporary dental insurance meanwhile those other people who are deliberately keeping themselves below the poverty line can walk in and get whatever they want. it really kills me how the system works. people who need it can't get it and the people who don't need it get whatever they want.
