Ok my finacee always wants to spend time with me, and that is nice and everything! This is my b-day weekend and i want to go out to my favorite resturant with my best girl friends! My finacee just turned 21 and i am 22, he always wants to go out to eat so he can drink beers! Last weekend we went out and he had seven beers, i told him he could come to my b-day if he was not to drink because i am not going to either! He got mad about that so i told him i did not want him to come (he was just going to have one beer, but i wanted it a sober weekend)! He is now calling me controlling and i don't feel i am! What does everyone else think, want your people's opion? Thanks!!!

Should still be playing the field at your age. But anyway as far as the issue at hand, your right. it`s your birthday. Out of 52 weekends a year he should be able to stay sober for 1.

If you love him, you have to accept his vices. Just like he'd have to accept yours.
Listen, if you're his fiancee, you'll have plenty of his time to yourself.
Understanding that he should sacrifice for that one weekend, you're not wrong.
Maybe he values drinking a little more than a special occasion. Who knows until you really talk to him - not demand, but TALK to him about what his values/priorities are.

Be fair and voice your feelings and what you expect.
He can't read minds, so he won't know.

Good luck!

Sounds like you're willing to marry a drunk. No other men in town, or is he the best you can do?

Honestly if its your birthday then he should respect your request. Just leave him at home and have fun with your friends.

You have a right to celebrate your birthday anyway you want. If he cannot comply then tell him to stay home.

to me it sounds like he isn't ready to grow up. if he is your fiancee, he should respect what you say/ask. for your sake, i hope the wedding isn't for a few years, so that he can have time to grow up and respect you.
