If someone is evil and causes suffering for many years, and they themselves has not had anything overly bad happen to them but of their own free will they decide to become good, can't they get into heaven despite all their wrong doings..because god will forgive them anyway? If someone lived life as close to christ as the could but suffered many tradgedies such as losing many jobs, the loss of a child and spouse, illness and then that person says" I've had it I have been keeping my faith but I have had too many tradgedies forget religion"..will this person not go to heaven even though the first 25 years of their life they were in line with christ? will they not get into heaven because they have turned away, while the person with more years of sin has come closer to christ

Butterfly, I think the answer you are looking for is in the bible.

"The first will become the last, and the last become the first"

What this means is that it doesn't matter for how long you have served Christ. What is important is what is the spiritual state of the person when the person dies. This teaching is also in the OT.

And remember, the OT and the NT complements each other.

Oh, and one other thing. The tragedies are not by God they were there to draw the man away from God. God assured us that we will not be tempted beyond what we are able to withstand. If the man thinks God is not helping him, then the faith will cause a huge gaping divide between him and God. Moving on, that relationship will fail.

Without faith, we can achieve nothing.

Its a problem in Christianity. People commit sins with the knowledge they will be forgiven if they simply ask for it, even if they plan on committing the same sins again. I think Jesus made a mistake giving such a blanket pardon to repeat offenders.

You know, that's one of the major problems with christianity, everyone seems to think they've been given the job of judge. Well, none of us are the judge, we can't see into the hearts of people, so we're simply not qualified. Christ is the judge, and only He knows who goes to heaven and who doesn't.

Christianity states that anyone can be saved if they repent their sins and accept Jesus Christ as lord and savior. Even if they have committed all sorts of crimes, they can be forgiven. Everyone can be forgiven.

Remember, all the good people do not go to heaven...all the forgiven people go to heaven. We need to have mercy to claim mercy. : )
