I mean in Catholic Doctine they do not believe in the Adam and Eve story to be true. So should you really call yourself a catholic if you believe that story to be true? Also should you call yourself a Catholic if you don't believe in the emaculate conception?

Catholics do not believe in the story of Adam and Eve to be literal. They see it more of a parable.

Excuse me? I am a Catholic educator. Adam and Eve are the names given to the first humans. We believe the story- after all...The Catholic Church is the chuirch that actually put the Bible together- that is, before the Protestants started removing books that were 'too Catholic.'

The Immaculate Conception is a dogma of the Church and is to be believed. Just to clarify, it mean that Mary was conceived the good old-fashioned way ( translation: her parents had sex). BUT it states that God knew she would become the mother of Jesus, so God therefore decided to preserve her free from the stain of original sin so she would be a fitting mother for Jesus. It makes perfect sense if you think about it. By keeping her free from the stain of original sin, she was also kept free from concupiscience- the tendency to sin that we all have. It means her body- her very DNA- was fitting to share with Christ as his first dwelling on earth!

I am Catholic and I have NEVER heard it said that Adam and Eve were not a true story, not that any part of the Bible was not true. Where do you get this idea from?

The immaculate conception does NOT refer to the virginal birth of Christ. It refers to Mary's soul being free from original sin. Also, whether you believe in creationism or evolution is not of great importance to Catholics, so long as you believe that God's hand was in the planning of either. What the hell are you talking about?

Catholics believe in Adam and Eve. And they believe in the Immaculate conception. In fact, they believed in it BEFORE you did I imagine.

Protestants are just a splinter group of Catholicism. Remember that.
