When the settlers came to the New World, most of the were from English speaking countries. Since the English speakers outnumbered the others, they pretty much established English as the National language. If the Chinese had settled first and most, we would probably be speaking Chinese now,

many different languages are spoken here. One answer was wrong, we have no National language in the Constitution, but then, why would any feel they need to validate the language of Shakespeare with a law? That's just silly. Simple, we don't speak Chinese because we're not in China. You answered your own question

I am sure lots of Chinese speak English in the US. Go to Chinatown in New York, San Francisco, or Settle. Chinese people are everywhere!

I'm sure that somewhere some form of the Chinese language is being spoken. Hang out in a Chinese resturant long enough and I'm sure you'll hear it.

Because Chinese (Mandarin Chinese, actually) is one of the hardest languages to learn - aside from English and Gaelic.
Also, I think because most Asians (and Asian-Americans) communicate chiefly through English; and some Asian-Americans move away from their culture and adopt American culture - culture includes language.
