maybe he still feels close to u..... he can be open with u cause u have seen his good and bad sides but u still accept him..... maybe u guys aren't good together as a couple thats all.

My ex wife cheated on me, and she still also calls me when she has a crisis, i think it is because she knows i really loved her, and the guys she goes out with only want sex. She feels secure around me i guess.

my ex was in a relationship with a girl and still telling me that he loved me and wanted to be with me again someday. the only thing i could do for him was to say that i was sorry, and convince him that he wasn't ready to be in a relationship right now.

Maybe he values you advice but accepts a relationship with you will not work. Maybe he feels he can trust you. You need to ask him if you really want to know.

It's because he can't let go... My ex used to do the same thing, I think they just get used to having us around, it takes time to break those ties.
