Is anyone afraid or self-conscious to pray, or afraid to ask God questions? If so, why?

I'm wondering if some are afraid because they were told not to approach God, or that it has to be done in a certain way, or that God doesn't hear you?

I used to be afraid. Then I started really reading the Bible. The Psalms are prayers from King David and Prophets. I read the words, "BEND DOWN YOUR EAR, HEAR ME SPEEDILY..." and so on. In the new testament, it says we are to come BOLDLY before the throne of grace. I do just that. I don't think God hears the wimpy prayer of unbelief. He wants us to be bold, to even shout out at him. Be "passionate" about our prayer. (I used the word passionate because I don't know what other word to use to describe it. Other than BOLD.)

I used to be self-conscious when worshiping but the more I did it the less self conscious I became. Now when I pray or worship especially at church I just focus on praising God instead of focusing on self..... God wants us to pray about everything and worry about nothing. Again when I first started it was hard but just keep doing it and it will be something you look forward to doing all the time...

I have reverential fear of the Lord....

Sometimes I'm careful about how I pray. Prayer shouldn't be like a shopping list of sorts......prayer should be simply talking to God....giving Him praise, honor and glory.

But no....I'm not afraid to talk to God on a daily basis....besides...He told me to do so in His Word.

They could fear if they don't have a personal relationship with God...

For example I was very comfortable going up to my mother or father and ask for help, advise, money or anything I felt like but I would not feel the same if I went up to your parents and asked and I'm sure you would not feel very comfortable too.

Asking God our Father to provide for our needs should not be scary or difficult...as a matter of face His loves it when His children come to Him and ask.

oh man great question.
i agree...we shouldnt be afraid to ask questions. cool. i think god would want that. i know if my kids dont understand something about me or whats going on around them...they can ask me and i will happily explain.
ok we are clear on that. the trouble comes when people ask questions that OTHER HUMANS consider wrong or disrespectful or blasphemous.
for example...i want to know why the hell healing dosent work. it was a promise! ask and you shall receive. i want to know why god allows all the **** to go on...all the suffering. i want to know why only select few who are"fortunate" enough to hear the name of jesus and accept him as the savior..get to go to heaven. little babies in the jungle and the desert are out of luck.i dont get it. christians say...its our job to spread the word to save these babies...i just dont buy that sh!t.this is the kind of stuff i ask god.im still waiting for answers.
