my parents abandoned me. when my mom got in trouble, she sent me to another country with relatives and abandoned me there because she wants to live with her boyfriend. Thus i have been out of school and don't know what to do. I am 17. I am required to go back to America because 90 days is the limit. I don't know what to do to when i go back, i have no where to go and all i want to do is finish school but im left in a situation where i have no parents, no school, no one. stranded. Im turning 18 before i return to America, will that help?

please offer helpful advice. She just took me out of highschool without me knowing and she really doesnt care about me. I just want to go on to college. Is there services or groups that can help me?

When you get back to America sign yourself into a homeless shelter. Explain the whole situation, get yourself to a local social service office and they will help you find a place to live get you a job and cash assistance and food stamps. A high school should take you so you can graduate, I believe you are allowed to attend high school to get a diploma untill you are 21. That may only be in New York State, so if you cant go back to your high school you need to get in contact with the Adult Education Centers, or even the local community college and also explain your situation. Your best bet is to keep talking to people of athourity and you will get on the right track.

Secondly, I don't know your entire situation, but you can contact Child Welfare and have them seek out your mother for child support or some type of charges. As long as you are a student (and again this may only be in New York State) you can collect monthly from your mother untill you are 21.

Above all else keep your head up, based on what I've read you seem like a smart kid. Good for you for wanting to go to school and graduate and continue your education. I think its great that you want to be a better person than your mother. There are alot of kids in your situation that just give up and settle for a small crappy apartment and work at Mc Donalds the rest of thier lives just bearly paying rent.

You do not have to go back to school to get your diploma. You can take a GED test that will give you certificate that is equal to having the H S diploma. Colleges will recognize it as being such and if you can pass the STAT test and when you fill out your application explain why you have a GED instead of a diploma they will be more impressed with that accomplishment and your desire to continue your education.
I think it is great that you want to do that.
In the mean time you can find a job in a fast food restaurant or a supermarket so that you will have some money to live on.

Yes turning 18 before you come back to the states will help...when you get back, whatever town you are in, go to the local DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, tell them what is going on. Also if you need a place to stay, you can contact local homeless shelters, they arent the greatest but if you tell them what is going on (they usually give you a counsler to speak with) then they can lead you in the right track and help you get where you want to be!! I am not sure where to tell you to go but,start by speaking with a guidance counsel at your present high school.When you get back to the U.S. try calling a University and ask to speak to a guidance counsel there.These people should be able to set you on a direction.It may not be a bad idea to get a job somewhere,fast food whatever.I worked at the age of 15,I had left home due to problems of abuse.I made it and so can you.You are young,times will be tough,but dont stop believing in yourself.

i don't know about america but in the uk there are college courses you can do without ever having to go to school. talk to somebody at a school in america when you get back
