assume that v have opened 2 msword window 3 excel windows 1winamp window
cant we make pc shut down( example: winxp)
by giving a single comand it should automatically
save the word and excel documents if open
it should not ask the user to save no or cancel?

Well, it would make sense. But verifying that you want to save your document manually would give people the option to overwrite the other file, save in a different location, rename before saving (in case thay use the original document as a template etc.)

However, it would be convenient if if you shut your PC down with applications open, it should save work automatically to a "In Progress Bin" next to the recycle bin :) That woudl be cool b/c then it wouldnt re-write your original files and still be accessable.

No, automatic save options aren't available. Think of it this way: what if you were working on an important project, you made a change you don't like, then the power goes out or your dog trips over the cord. Then your good project would be lost and your bad changes would save forever. Don't be lazy. Just click the "save" button.

Look into a SysInternals tool called PSShutdown(see link below). I used it to reboot remote servers, but you can also reboot workstations remotely. It has an option to send commands to the machine before reboot, maybe you could figure out how to save your open documents first??

Sorry but I don't undestand the question, why don't you just CLOSE the windows yuorself first before you shutdown ???

grab the hard drive plug and yank it out of the wall, then throw your monitor in the toilet...that should do it
