Just curious... IF a God existed that was similar in character to Jesus, would you want to know him?

I ask about Jesus as an example of what KIND of god people would desire, if any. He represented the character of someone who taught people and served them, healed the sick and helped them in life, stood up to false authority, defended the poor and the foreigner, treated both the socially powerful and the powerless as equals, and was willing to die to save humanity...

If he existed, theoretically, would you want to know him? If you don't know much of Jesus of the Bible, check out the first 4 books of the new testament - Matthew, Mark, Luke, John

If Jesus did all these good things, yet he was God, then who created evil? Was it God as in Father? So one part of God, Father, made sickness only for the Son part of God, Jesus to heal the sick. Isnt that poking the lion and doing the rescuing yourself? And where does God, the Holy Sprit come into this situation? Casual observer? Intermediate? The whole dogma is a mess so if there is a God, it certainly aint Jesus, who came through a woman's private parts...

No, not sure that I would. I would want a god that would inspire people to write eye witness accounts not people to write accounts years later as if they were eyewitness accounts. I would want consistency in events and morals. While the Christ exemplified in the gospels seems to be a pretty good guy, his legacy leaves much to be desired.

Lol, hell no. I piss off entirely too many people on first impressions to risk being smited about 500 thousand times a day.

Idina, we don't believe in God because we have common sense. Go find some.

I doubt it. People who don't believe in God, most of the time, have a few excuses and reasons they don't believe and they will cling to them because subconsciously, for some reason, they want God not to exist. They justify this by telling themselves that God doesn't exist because... whatever.

If they wanted God, they would seek the arguments, scripture, and opinions of religious people on the subject. They would be detectives. Seek and you shall find. Not, "Be apathetic or stubborn and it shall come to you." The fact that they don't look or listen is the choice that they don't want a God.

I think it's impossible to know God. One of the ancient names for God was "The Unknowable."

It seems to me that all the attempts to "know God" are attempts to limit the infinite in order to make it a bit more comfortable.

I wouldn't want my God to be similar in character to jesus. Jesus and his thugs (diciples) were shysters and took advantage of poor people beginning when he was 12 years old.
Finally, his own people did him in.

Yes I would. Would you like to introduce me? I've read those books before, they prove Jesus isn't it, but if you could get the deity you're talking about to shake my hand, I'd love to meet him.
