They don't believe in the rules/teachings/traditions/dogma that that particular religion originally conformed to? For example Would you call yourself a Mormon if you didn't really think that Jesus came to America? or Should you really call yourself a Jew if you you believe that Jesus really did raise from the dead after 3 days and that he is the Messiah?

No, they shouldn't.

Christians shouldn't consider themselves christian either, unless they accept the Bible in it's entirety. That means stoning disobedient children and murdering aldulterers should become common practice according to scripture.

Denominations is simply a set of doctrines which an individual happens to believe in. Hence, that's why they attend that particular church. So if you disagree with what that "denomination" teaches by no means should you take on their label.

many times people call themselves whatever 'religion' their parents were even if they themselves havent accepted it as their own. there ARE Jews who have accepted Jesus as the Messiah and are considered Messianic Jews, still celebrating Jewish customs but waiting one the 2nd coming of the Lord instead of the first like other Jews

No. If you deny parts of the central beliefs of a denomination, you can hardly call yourself by that name. That is why I am a bible believer. I can find no denomination of Churchianity that follows Scripture.

I call myself a follower of Jesus, and oftentimes I do not follow. So what is in your heart is much more important than any "label"
