Je ne suis pas de Paris.
Michelle n'est pas américaine.

Negatives are easy. Your verb goes in the middle like meat in a sandwich. ne........pas. If the verb starts with a vowel then you knock off the e at the end of ne: n'........pas.

It also works for ne.......rien (not anything/nothing)
ne.......plus (no longer. no more)
ne.......jamais (not ever/ never)
ne.......personne (no one/ not anyone)
I hope this helps you.

You want to put "ne...pas" around the verb.

Since these use forms of etre,

Je ne suis pas de Paris.

and

Michelle n'est pas américaine.

Remember that you need to use a contraction in the second sentence. "ne est" doesn't sound good in French!

the negative form is by putting the verb between (Ne + verb+pas)
So :
Je ne suis pas de Paris
Michelle n'est pas Américaine " if Michelle is a girl" and Américain "if Michelle is a boy !!"

Notice that in French a sequence of two vowels belonging to 2 different words doesn't occur so in case of :
ne est pas.... >>>> n'est pas.....
So we delete the first vowel and put this apostrophe.

Hop it helps.
