Women in the army?

What kinds of jobs are availible for women in the us army? anything like infantrymen or is that off limits?

Yes Infantry is still off limits to women in the military, but everything else is open. If they are looking for a job that's like infantry look into Military Police.

About the only combat arms job for a female in any branch is to be a fighter pilot in the US Navy. I don't know if the US Air Force has a similar policy now or not. By "combat arms", I mean a job that has a primary mission of directly person-to-person, so to speak, engaging the enemy combatants. This is more a reflection of society's view than it is of any branch's.
As far as jobs available, well everything else is a possibility. Each different job has its own set of requirements--such as perfect vision for aviation jobs, so if you can meet those you can do the job. Call your local recruiter and good luck.

there are plenty of women in the army. there's a plenty big list of things you CAN'T be though. mainly special ops, scouts, etc. you can't be an infantrymen though. if you want the whole list of things that are off limits to women, here they are:

To answer completely and quickly. Combat Support or Combat Service Support units yes a female can be a member. Combat Arms which includes infantry, scouts, SOF etc. NO!

women cannot be infantry, scouts, tankers, or other jobs that are considered combat arms. you can find a full list at www.goarmy.com. however, just because women are not supposed to be in combat, doesn't mean they never are. i was a journalist in the army and spent time in baghdad, ramadi, tikrit, kirkuk and several other cities where combat was a regular occurance.

if you want to go infantry, join the marines
