my hair is in layers from about my shoulders to almost the middle of my back, i dont want to wear it just down, or up in a boring pony tail. I'm going to a business dinner and i need something classy or something that i can do pretty simply without too much work...HELP PLEASE

You could take two parts of your hair..one on either side of your head and twist them back. Then hold the two pieces in a pretty clip at the back of your head. Then take the rest of the hair and with a curling iron create a few spiral curls (doesnt have to be all over the head)...but that will add some bounce to your hair. Finish with a lot of hair spray.
OR you could do a french twist...which is a little bit more sophisticated. Check out this website to see how to do it:

you could do a high ponytail, wrap a little bit of hair around the hair-tie to hide it for a more finished look, and add a sparkly clip or even attach a pretty brooch with some bobby pins.
you could finish it with big curls and a little bit of a gloss product
