Take it from a person that has been "clean" for 2 years this Sat. 17th Feb. I don't know if are giving this question as a joke or seriously so I''m gonna bite. At the rate of 5 mg. a day it won't effect you that much. If you take this amount every 4 hours it may be what is needed for therapeutic help for whatever reason that it is perscribed for. Any time you raise the intake of any drug you should consult with your Dr. first and this amount of 200mg a day is ridicules and could never be accomplished without going into permanent sleep. Valium may not kill you if used by itself but there is a good chance of it. (more than likely you will be in sort of an induced comma) However If it is mixed with anything the chance is compounded many times over. I was hooked on muscle relaxers & pain killers. Diazapam is a mucsle relaxer with multiple uses. The most I could take a day (in 15 years) was about 80-100mgs a day and I was sleeping most the time. I am very lucky no doubt and this was only done because I had created a tolerance to this drug and many others. For a person to start at day one with 5mgs and get to 200mgs by day 15 is not possible and if try this you may as well get your will written before hand. I'ts just the way I see it now. It would just be down right stupidity to try.

BTW,, Why even ask this ? It's nuts, or is someone telling you
"they" did it? (gotta ask)

Valium or diazepam is a benzodiazepine used for stress or anxiety usually. It is highly addictive and a withdrawal from a benzodiazpine can kill you if you are not medically monitored. Xanax is the same family-etc.. It is extremely harmful, and that type of dosage-you ask what would the effect be? Death.

I hope for your sake you arnt joking with a question like that. From a 22 year old who just lost her Mother from a Valium Overdose I can tell you that that high of a dosage will KILL YOU. Please think before raising the dosage at any level. A person needs to be tolerant before any raising of the dosage can happen, and no doctor in his right mind would raise it to 200 mgs.
And Wisco Joe I don't know who you are, but I applaude you for your recovery. I just wanted to tell you that. God bless you.

You can start seeing another doctor, but I think that he wants to increase your dosage because antidepressants have the tendency to just stop working and he doesn't want this to happen to you. If you're on a higher dosage, it's not as likely. As for your therapist, your therapist is not trained to prescribe medication and should not be taken as an authority on this subject. As for quitting 'cold turkey', yes, since it is a very small dosage, it probably won't do much. If you are very uncomfortable with this doctor, call his office in the morning, tell his secretary that you are unhappy with this doctor and ask for a referal. You'll get one.

Why ask such a thing? Valium is not a stimulant and changing from 5mg to 200mg is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!! Extremely dangerous!!
