On a few occasions, women have been very nasty to me, only for me to find out at a later stage that they fancy me. Perhaps I am just being ignorant, but can someone explain why people do this please, because I find it very confusing.
Surely if you fancy someone then you want to make a good impression?

I don't know why, maybe they are immature, How old are these women? Only kids act like that.

If only to gain your attention. This is human nature. If you make friends with a person who was earlier your bitter enemy, he would even make a better friend than all others. Of course this being nasty initial approach of those who you believe in real effect fancy you, is not a very rational approach, but it is only as I said, to gain your attention. The worst you can do for anyone is to ignore that person. It appears to me that your basic characteristic is to ordinarily ignore. You may not be by nature a person who is outwardly friendly. You select your friends with deep deliberation. Therefore at the outset itself there is a feeling derived in the other of you being snooty. It is only because of this that you get these nasty jibes. Small changes are only required in your way. Just a passing smile turns the key.

Sometimes people don't know the best way to express their feelings, so out of frustration they react negatively. It satisfies some sort of underlying desire to provoke some type of interaction between the two of you.
People who express their true feelings too much sometimes get hurt, and so they do different things to protect themselves from getting hurt again. The build sort of a barrier between the real world and their feelings
Especially if it's a female, who traditionally doesn't make the first move towards the opposite sex she may not want to flirt and appear to be desperate.
So while it may be annoying, sometimes you just have to put up with it.

A girl just loved me in second grade...she beat the daylights out of me and I wanted to move to a new school. No I am not going to show you a picture of me with black eyes after 33 years of marriage but I did date the same girl in 9th grade. Seems that the woman is paying attention to you and perhaps the wrong attention is all she is wired to give. My best advice is when they are nasty, kill them with kindness tempered with a limit to the amount of abuse you will be willing to take. You are a man not a welcome mat. Also, remember the nastyness...it is what you will receive in abundance when you fall out of favor. Good luck

Well, its kind of like when a little boy used to have a crush on a little girl so they pulled her pigtails. Attention, but not knowing how to approach it.
People age but they dont mature much...
Dont you agree?
I know even when my grandma was old she told me she still imagined herself to be a 17 year old girl.
Its what makes being a senior citizen so sad-there is no respect for the elderly. And we are ALL gonna be there some day, well, either there or 6 feet under.

Well to begin with if they fancy you then act nasty to you, then they arent worth your time. Women can be fickle at times, and also an hard to understand. Its not your fault, you did nothing wrong its just who they are. Your not to blame for them treating you like that. I do wish the best of luck to you and hope I answered this question.

I think that women like to criticize but part of this criticizing process comes from the fact that they wouldn't criticize if they did not have any feelings for you... they just want your attention and by saying such things they get your long lasting impression and also you remember what they said to you :)

They do this trying to get your attention. I guess they think they get more noticed by you from being nasty. If you don't like that try to pay attention and notice when a woman gets really quiet around you, that usually means she likes you but is shy. That may be more your type.

maybe they are afraid of frightening you off if they come on toostrong. or are afraid of rejection at a later stage if they give their feelings away too early .or it could be an unconcious challenge as if to " well if he really fancies me he wont be put off "

soem people find fancying someone as a sign of weakness so they hide their feelings to feel stronger and act mean so that you don't discover the truth
